My son this spring gave me a pot of different herbs, the basil is different than sweet. When you pinch the flowering buds off, it has a scent of cloves. Has anyone heard of this kind ?

hmmm, I've heard of Cinnamon Basil, but never Clove Basil!

It might be anise basil also called licorice basil for its sweet anise and licorise smell.

Some Thai Basils have a clove-like scent.

Thanks, thought my sniffer was off. Will have to plant myself some sweet basil now.
