Sour Cream in Cake Mix

I saw Paula Deen add sour cream to a cake mix, but couldn't find it when I went online and searched. I want to make a cake mix pound cake with the pudding mix and would like to add the sour cream. Can any of you suggest how much? Thanks in advance - Betty

Hi Betty,

I actually make from scratch cake with sour cream all the time.

In my experience, just replace the liquid (whether it be water or milk) from the box mix instructions with sour cream. It will result in a thick batter that is delicious. Of course, you still need to add the butter or oil that the recipe calls for.

I don't know about pudding mix. If I remember, you can just pour the box mix in. ?

I add yogurt to all my cakes and most of my other baking. I like it better then sour cream and it makes a moist recipe.
