Stroganoff variations, anyone ??

My friend wants to make stroganoff this year for new years. She wants to mix it up a little though. She plans on making it with shrimp and mushrooms. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions what else can be added or other variations, it would be appreciated.

I dont necessarily need full recipes, just ideas, but full recipes would be welcome too,
