What to make to accompany braised duck legs?

I am planning on making a recipe out of Michael Ruhlman's fabulous new book "Twenty" this weekend. The recipe is for braised duck legs. I've never braised duck before and I'm very excited to try it out.

Ruhlman's Twenty: 20 Techniques, 200 Recipes, A Cook's Manifesto - Michael Ruhlman, Donna Turner Ruhlman - Google Books

Can anyone recommend what to make to accompany this main dish? Ruhlman recommends mashed potatoes, couscous or egg noodles. Any recs for an appetizer?

I think a fancy main dish deserves fancy sides. How about stuffed artichokes, asparagus, or quinoa?

I love pureed parsnips with any kind of duck dish.
In our house, dog hair is a condiment!
OMG! I decided to blog!

Potato pancakes and red cabbage.

Apple pie for dessert!

I'm leaning towards mashed potatoes. Any thoughts on an app?
