Instead of green beans witih a dressing, you can add the green beans to a tomato-based cold soup, along with other pre-cooked veggies. Add diced frech onion and a bit of cilantro, and maybe some dill.

Another winner for green beans is to take one can each, green beans, waxed beans, garbanzo beans (chick peas), and dark-red kidney beans. Drain and rinse the kidney beans. Throw everything, including the can liquid into a large bowl. Add fresh onion, and about 1/4 cup sugar or sucralose (Splenda) into the mix. Add either white vinager, or red wine vinager to the bowl, again a little at a time. Stir and taste a tsp.-full of the liquid. Add more vinager as necessary until you get the sweet & sour flavor you want. Oh, and add either sliced celery, or 1/2 tsp. celery seed to this as well. This is very similar to three-bean salad, but with an extra bean added in. It goes very well with pasta dishes.
