...He brought home the airport news one day and the policy of not being allowed to bring food from home...

We bring food from home in our carry-ons and checked luggage when we fly. We've done it before and after 9/11. Cookies, snack food, chocolate, etc. We also buy sandwiches from a concessionaire after we go thru the TSA checkpoint and carry-on.
