Anybody know what I could substitute for Port in a sauce for a Pork roast? I have some Sweet Vermouth, but no other sweet wine. I have many kinds of red wine, but no Port argh! Thanks for any help out there!

Port wine is a sweet fortified wine so depending on the flavor your looking for would depend on whether or not dry marsala would work... Sweet marsala on the other hand would be a suitable substitute...

I'm not a wine drinker, but I do have port and marsala that I use for cooking and they do not taste similar. If I was making a sauce for a pork roast and using red, just winging it, I would grab the marsala. I think you'll be happy with it.

Thanks all........I went with half Marsala and half sweet vermouth. I decided that since the recipe also called for brandy; that mixing wasn't really going to matter. I thought it came out great........not that I would advocate sweet vermouth as a cooking wine :) but it did work.
