A friend gave me some fresh green beans, and I'd like to do something different with them. I tasted some sweet/sour green beans at a pot-luck last fall, and wonder if anyone has a recipe. They had bits of crispy bacon and pimento in them.

Could it have been a German Potato Salad hot dressing with pimentos added?

This is mil's recipe which seems to fit your description. I like the idea of adding pimiento!
Green Beans Amandine
2 cans green beans
3 slices bacon
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup almonds; slivered
1 medium onion; sliced thin
Fry bacon until crisp and set aside. Into the skillet of drippings add sugar and vinegar. Slice 1 medium onion thin and take each slice apart.
Add onion to skillet. Add green beans and almonds. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Sprinkle bacon over beans when ready to serve.
