We like this with most chops,roasted chicken, steak and even hamburgers without buns add a green salad and you're set to go.
Preheat oven to 400 butter a 13x9 dish place 1/3 of the potatoes this is from 4 lbs. of potatoes that hve been sliced about 8 cups, and now add from 1/3 of the onions (3 cups) add salt and cracked black pepper and dot 1/3 of butter 1/2 cup. Do this twice more. Cover and bake 45 min or til tender. Uncover and bake til lightly browned Remove from oven and let cool 5 min. Loosen around edges and invert on heat proof serving platter. Sprinkle with1/2 cup Parmesan freshly grated and if you like heat add a sprinkle of cayenne peppr add more salt and pepper. Return to brown the cheese if you wish. Enjoy
