So good with ham, roasted chicken goes well with this too.
In a med saucepan, combine 2-1/2 cups tomato puree,1-1/4 cups brown sugar, that has been well packed,and1/4 cup boiling water. Place pan over med heat and bring to boil. Let go for 5 min. sitr occasionally. In the mean time melt 1/4 cup butter in small saucepan and keep the tomato mix and the butter warm. Place 3 cups of bread cubes I like sourdough in a buttered 9 inch square bake pan and pour hot melted butter over them make sure to distribute evenly Now pour the hot tomato mixture over the buttered bread cubes and place the bake dish in preheated oven at 375 for 45 min. Watch your oven making sure it does not run hot.
