Barley Question

I'm making venison vegetable soup today in a rather unconventional (for me) way. I've put the venison chunks in the crockpot with a pkt of onion soup mix and a can of tomato soup. I plan to cook the vegetables separately and add to crockpot later. I want to add barley, as it really compliments the taste of venison.
Question is...how long do you think it will take the barley to cook in the crockpot?

On low? Might be all day or at least as long as you have the venison cooking.

Oh Goodness...I didn't put it in until 3:00. My crockpot bubbles on low, though, so maybe it will be ready by 7-8 when we get ready for supper.
I only put in about 2 tbls, because I always end up with way too much. It was also dated 2003, so I figured if it stayed hard as a rock, we could always pick it out.

Why not cook it separately also and add?

I was going to suggest that. If I remember right, it takes whole pearl barley about 20 - 25 minutes to cook.
