A friend of mine who has moved to california says he misses sausage rolls the most, I am amazed that the US doesn't have them!
There seems to be a huge influx of pie shops here lately especailly Shakespeares etc. My husband likes to try out all the surrounding cake shops/ bakeries for the perfect pie.

Hey, Z, somewhere around here on the DC is a thread on Tourtiere you must jump in on. It'll probably pop back up this winter, although I cannot remember where it is now. Savory pies have fallen out of favor in the U.S., although they do pop up from time to time. For example, in my part of the country, Cornish pasties are popular (what amounts to beef stew in a turnover-type-crust). My husband wouldn't dream of Christmas without tourtiere, and he only met it after he met me (teehee). I research and experiment with tourtiere recipes, but think I have mine down pat at this point.

Weren't four-and-twenty blackbirds baked in a pie?
