I had this at the Victoria Peak mall in Hongkong a few years back. It's a Chinese delicacy that's also sold in Singapore (according to a friend).
They sell this out of tiny food kiosks and make them in front of you. It's actually fun to watch. I think it's made of taffy maybe (or melted sugar) and dumped in some sort of flour with ground peanuts and sugar, then hand-pulled many times so you end up with many strings. (Much like hand-pulled noodles). Then you roll up the strings into a date-sized ball of thread. These are sold by packs of 6 pieces or so. And they are delicious. Very dry texture and yet chewy. Very different but nice.
I've searched the internet for this with no luck. Does anyone have anything on this by any chance? Crossing my fingers... Thanks!
