I guess, I was wrong. The dish I was refering to, indeed was peppers, onions and tomatoes, but it was vegitarian dish

Charlie, it is made without sausage when you use it as a seasoning thing in other dishes. But no reason why you couldn't make it without sausage and bacon. In that case you could use oil instead of bacon fat or lard.
