khar maachh

I found a new traditional dish in my in-laws family and that dish is khar maachh.

It is a fish recipe. Small fish like mourala ( Amblypharyngodon mola), punti (Puntius sp.) etc are garnished with salt, wrapped in a banana leaf and then baked slowly in a clay oven.

This dish is taken with plain rice in many Assamese rituals.
