foodfan;
Never having tried them I googled for the recipe and came up with tons. However, I don't know what would be authentic. Just put pasteles into your search engine. You'll find them.

Pasteles are gooood. Their kind of like a puerto rican version of a tamale. They have shops that sell them here in hawaii, and you can buy them fresh at farmer's makerts, swap meets, etc. I don't know how to make them, so I try to buy them whenever I get the chance

HI DEADLY SUSHI,
PASTELES ARE A COMBINATION OF BOILED PLANTAINS, GREEN BANANAS, AND AT TIMES CASSAVA OR OTHER ROOT VEGGIES. THEY ARE USUALLY FLAVORED WITH SEASONED MEAT AND SHAPED INTO A BAR, WRAPPED IN PAPER, TIED AND BOILED. THEY TASTE GREAT :roll:
