The pricest part of the lamb here is the chops. They go for about $7 a pound. The rest of the lamb, even out of season is about $3.99 to $4.99 a pound. And I consider that high. Most of our lamb comes from NZ or Austrailia. Spring lamb around Easter is grown in America. The imported lamb at that time is more costly. I guess they want to encourage "Buy America."

I bought a few pounds of stewing lamb at my local butcher shop....cost $8 per pound, and much of it was fat.
I decided to grind it up to use, so I don't have to cut all the fat off each tiny stewy piece. Worked great!

How much does everyone else here pay for lamb?
Direct from the farmer, it is $8/lb here, regardless of the cut.
