OK. He's not in the hand, he's in the bush
I saw this little guy peering at the world on my way into work yesterday. The sparrows like to build their nests in the shrubs. Actually, there's a robin's nest in the other shrub with one egg in it. Looks funny to see a robin crawling into the shrub.
Now that the little ones have left the nest, I can give my shrubs a much needed trim. I don't think I'll bother the egg too much, but didn't want to chase off the parents from feeding the little ones.
He's about the size of a thumb, or small hummingbird. Too young to know to fly off when something "strange" approaches
