Another phone scam

This was on our morning news.

If anyone receives a telephone call or message asking them to dial a number with the area code 809, 284 or 876 that they should not call the number back. They say if someone calls a number with these area codes, they may be charged as much as $2,425 per minute on their telephone bills.
They say the scammers attempt to get people to call back by telling them that they have information about a sick family member, or someone has been arrested or that they have won a prize. The scammers try and keep the caller on the line as long as possible.

Just thought I would warn everyone.

There is no path to yesterday.

Thank you JoAnn for the information. I have Caller ID and I can see who is calling me except those who have Private and Unknown caller.

I get calls from the so called Police Fund for donations and I tell them if they do not stop calling me I will report them.

There is a law that prohibits these type of calls and they can be reported.

Thanks again for the info.
