Any real estate or apartment manager type people around?

I live in an apartment complex that I have been in for 2 years this past October. I just signed a new year long lease. The question is, other than military orders, is there any way that I can get out of it without being penalized? Is there some kind of loophole?

The reason I'm asking is that for reasons I won't get into, I don't feel comfortable here anymore.

So if anyone has gone through something like this, or knows what I can do, any information would be awsome.

You can talk to your landlord and explain your situation (if you can). The landlord will often let you out if he can find someone to take your place.

If you can't get out of the lease, read the lease & see if you can sublet the apt.

Sublease - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ETA: If you can sublet, you could either do it yourself - go to a stationery store & get an appropriate sublet form, conduct interviews/check references etc; or, for a small fee, have a realtor do it for you. Attorneys are very expensive. Unless there is a very serious problem, I would stay there, as a year will go by before your know it. Best of luck.

Leases can be tough.

Having sold a bit of real estate as a realtor my advice concerning anything realestate is to consult an attorney. If your discomfort is safety related, etc. it just may be well worth the money. Best of luck, hope all turns out well.
