Are there business specialists here?
Over the last year I've decided to change the focus of my business.
I'm retired, and now receiveing Social Security. The daily grind for the 'dollar' has lessened.
It's summer, and I want to ride. After having my Dad pound the work ethic into my head for decades, I've found that I can completely blow off a day or an afternoon and just take my Harley down the slab, or sleep through a rainy afternoon.
I work at home more. Not only can I stop and start when I choose, but I can control variables. I can have instant access to the full range of my stones and supplies.
However, I am a good tinker. And while I enjoy schmoozing with my other rednecks at sporting goods stores, I'm at my best when I sharpen for chefs or sous-chefs.
If I had my way, I would get up late, get to the gym late, check the weather, and then open up a few UPS boxes from four-star restaurants.
Having said that, I know only one other tinker who does that, and isn't starving.
Considering the depth of talent here (and that successful kitchens need skilled managers) there must be some other businesses where sharpeners can work in the best environment needed.
Now granted, it is fun to go to a kitchen "and feel the vibe." Additionally, you pick up extra work while on the jobsite.
But this is why I need an expert. I'm only 58, and I have another ten years to go in my craft, and this problem needs a solution.
