My news station has a breaking news ticker and says that Buck Owens has died at 76. There isn't a story yet. Will keep watching to comfirm.

So sad!!:( I remember watching HeeHaw every weekend with him and Roy Clark making their jokes and laughing.

I saw him at Panther Hall in Fort Worth back in 1966. Loretta Lynn and Roy Clark were there too.It was illegal to serve drinks in Ft. Worth, but Panther Hall sold "set ups"...like a 7-up on ice...for $1.25 each, and you took in your own bottle in a brown paper bag.
A BIG ole cowboy got ahold of me, and said, "Yank, what's the matter, cain't ya do the two-step?" I'm 5'8", but he was way bigger than me, and grabbed ahold of me and swung me around until I was laughing and breathless. I don't believe my feet touched the floor all night long. What a good time that was!

You know this old world is full of singers
But just a few are chosen
To tear your heart out when they sing
Imagine life without them
All your, radio heros
Like the outlaw that walks through Jesse's dream

No, there will never be another
Red-headed stranger
A Man in Black and Folsom Prison Blues
The Okie from Muskogee
Or Hello Darling
Lord I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes

(Chorus:)
Who's gonna fill their shoes
Who's gonna stand that tall
Who's gonna play the Opry
And the Wabash Cannonball
Who's gonna give their heart and soul
To get to me and you
Lord I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes

God bless the boys from Memphis
Blue Suede Shoes and Elvis
Much too soon he left this world in tears
They tore up the Fifties
Old Jerry Lee and Charlie
And old Go Cat Go still echoes through the years

You know the heart of country music
Still beats in Luke the Drifer
You can tell when he sings I Saw the Light
Old Marty, Hank and Lefty
Why I can feel them right here with me
On this Silver Eagle rolling through the night

(Repeat chorus)

"I got the hungries for yer love, and I'm waitin' in yer welfare line..."

"I got a tiger by the tail, it's plain to see...and I won't be much when you are through with me. I'm losin' weight and turnin mighty pale...It looks like I've got a tiger by the tale!"

"They're gonna put me in the pictures...they're gotta make a big star out'a me. It's all about a man whose sad and lonely...all I gotta do is act naturally!"

"Pick me up on yer way down...when yer blue and all alone. When the glamour starts to bore you...come on back where you belong."
