New Challenge for DC - create a jingle, you know, like the Oscar Myer jingle, or the alkaseltzer jingle, and it has to be for DC and be worthy of the great posters on this site. So put your thinking caps on. Let's see what you've got. After a week, we can see which jingle is most popular.

Seems this is a good place to post this link.

Man behind the beloved 'Oscar Mayer Wiener Song' dies at 87 | Fox News

And since no one has stepped up to the plate yet and I've got that darned song stuck in my head I'll give it a shot. ;)

In my best Luciano Pavarotti voice..... :whistling

Oh, I'm glad I am a DC forum poster.
It it something really fun to do
So if you're not a DC forum poster
Sign on up and sing along with me.

I'll now await all the

Hey it's the best I could do with short notice.

And now Zagut has left the building. :king:

Ok. I'll try rap, even though I'm more of a rocker.

"I love to cook, some of it's crap.

If DH doesn't like it, I'll put it in a wrap. (He'll eat it anyway.)

I make up recipes as I go along.

If you ask me to to duplicate,

I'll sing this song:

I have no idea how I made it.

Short attention span, sure, I'll blame it.

Beagle and me, we both like our food

No onions for her, but we both know it's good."

There once was a boy from Nantucket.
Got him a big tin bucket.
Got some vegies from Lady Thatcher
And a ham from the butgher
And said "stews just a cookin'
and ya know I'm a lookin'
lookin' to be a DC'er

Seeeeeya;Chief Longwind of the North

There once was a lass from the Nodak
Who tried to take pics with her Kodak.
DC was there, so her pictures were shared
But the pics were lopsided, I know dac.

OK, it's stupid. I'll come up with something better tomorrow.

Okay Chief. It's been over a week so what's the verdict?

Guess we need more time so the timid among us can let lose there voices.

Hey just because I sound like Luciano Pavarotti doesn't mean everyone else should give up. ;)

Lot's of jingles to play off of.

Come on folks.

This has potential.

Can I add one pretty please? I just came back and so hadn't seen this before. It is to the tune of Penny Lane (1 verse and chorus)

In the Internet there is an app we know as DC
And it is the home for many fine folk
The recipes are no joke
Can I grab a yolk?

Dee Cee is in my heart and on my stove
There in forums for food and fun
I meet all my friends

To the tune of the old Ken-L-Ration jingle.

My foods tastier then your food .
My Diet has varied so much.
My food's tasty cause I'm a DC poster.
And being so has opened up my eyes.

Yea I know it's not great but you really need to hear it with the Luciano Pavarotti voice. ;)

I like it LP. :)

Well time to get back to stitching up the drawers. :whistling

I too, never saw this thread.... if I may? to the tune of Halls of Montezuma (sp)

From the depths of Dragn's cookin' lairs,
We hear the bubbling of the stew.

She's trying mighty hard with prickly pears,
Some hot peppers and good meat to chew.

All you DC'rs come with bowl and spoon,
A'fore the waxing of the moon.

You will fill your belly to your hearts content,
And claim DC time is never mis-spent!

Ok, let's see if I can come up with something. Sung to the tune of "Good Golly Miss Molly"

Good golly Got Garlic
Sure like to cook
Good Golly Got Garlic
Sure like to cook
When your cookin' up your egg rolls
Neighbors want to look

Now where'd you get that recipe
Got it from DC
Now where'd you get that recipe
Said got it from DC
They got any kind of cooking
You'll be the chef you want to be

Now your a DC legend
and you make some super chow
Yew your a DC legend
and you know I love your chow
Now make us something special
DC will show you how.

Thank you, Thank you. You're so kind. Yes, you can publish this, as long as I get royalties.

Nice one, Chief! :)

I think you will figure the tune out to this one pretty quick.

There is a place on the internet,
They call Discuss Cooking
And it is the haven for many a cook
And yes I know I'm one

Now the only thing a foodie needs
Is a recipe and a stove
And the only time they're satisfied
Is when they smell like cloves

Mother's teach your children
How to cook and how to bake
Then send them off to join DC
Cause the people there take the cake!

Sorry about the cloves line. I needed to rhyme! :whistling

But...but...but where's that beautiful organ solo. You know you can't hear that tune without that organ instrumental. All you needed to do was double space after "cloves", and type the words - insert instrumental _, then double-space and complete your third verse.:whistling:mrgreen:

Of course you know that I loved it.

So many great jingles here. In the words of the great poet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, "How do I love thee, let me count the ways." (speaking of the jingles of course.

Love it, LP! House of the Rising DC!

Thanks, DL, and I do love your limerick - they are my favourite poems to read and write!

Yes, Chief, you are correct it isn't complete without that solo. I actually used to play that on the keyboard while my friend played the guitar.

You have created a monster you know. I used to do song parodies in school all the time! :D
