Fast-food chain offers towering nine patty burger. Would you really eat that? | Shine Food - Yahoo! Shine

The east coast chain, which is currently expanding to 14 states across the country, has decided to put the Triple Triple on their menu after receiving over 100 orders during a test-month last year.

The nine-patty Triple Triple—the tallest burger you can get at a major fast food restaurant—was originally offered as a limited-edition novelty item. A challenge for competitive eaters with a craving for cow, the company got a bigger response than they expected. “It’s crazy. We had one guy eat it in less than two minutes,” Gillian Maffeo, director of marketing for parent Jake’s Franchising LLC, told Burger Business.

This week the company announced that the Triple Triple was here to stay. As of March 1, it will be the priciest burger on their menu at $12.99 a pop. So just how many calories are packed in a burger with nine patties? Jake’s Wayback didn't respond to our request by press time. So we were left to loosely estimate. A cheeseburger is listed at 570 calories, on the chain's website. If you multiply that by 9, you get a whopping 5,130 calories with approximately 117 grams of saturated fat. Now subtract about eight sandwich buns, since this stack is mostly meat. All told, you've got one dish with a calorie count that comes close to six buckets of KFC Fried chicken, or five Pizza Hut Meat Lovers' Pizza.

When you think about it, those fast food patties aren't very substantial. I think they are 4 oz raw and 3 oz cooked, so when you add up the cooked weight you probably only get around 27 ounces of meat. People eat that much steak in one sitting, along with a side of potatoes and mushrooms....Not saying that it is good for you, but I have seen bigger burgers for sale while perusing food porn images....especially ones that make their patties larger and from fresh burger... it's just great promotion.
For every person who says, "ugh, disgusting" there is one person saying " Yeah! Let me at it"

in 1982 i worked the evening shift the burger king on ruckman road in closter, nj to make a few bucks during my latter years in high school.

we often made ourselves 4 or 5 patty whoppers and multiple large fries to take home at the end of the evening since they were going top be thrown out anyway.

on several occasions, a new and upcoming comedian from saturday night live (who lived in nearby alpine) known as eddie murphy would show up in his red porsche 911 and tap on the takeout window through which we'd hand him a bag of our special 5 patty whoppers and giant fries in exchange for a $50 that we split since the tills were closed and the manager was not around.

who knew back then that a big burger would become so famous.

oh yeah, and eddie murphy, too.

true story.

I know Eddie Murphy lived in Alpine because he was a law school friend's of mine next door neighbor and I met him a few times in 1981 and 1982. (true story)

My friends and I all remarked at how much weight he'd gained between 81 and 82!!! (<----- this is a joke)

I did the close shift at Mickey D's in the late '70's and the grill guys made quadruple cheeseburgers and "someone" (not me) once or twice put vodka in the orange drink line. :)

That is big, they had this burger on Man VS Food.
Not sure if I could do a 9 patty burger but I have taken on a 1.25 kg (44.09 oz) t-bone steak with full order of chips, onion rings, spinach and pumpkin. I ate the slice of tomato and lettuce they used for garnish and had 2 Castle Draughts. This was a few years ago, think the motabolism may have slowed down some lol!
I have a special ability of not really feeling hunger or when I'm full! 3 guys did the challenge with me and all of them failed.
