They just did a news story on this here in town. The filling up in the morning thing is apparently crap because all pumps now are temperature regulated. Also the filling up at half a tank is bunk. Doesn't really matter when you fill up, its all the same. The bit about not filling when they are receiving fuel is TRUE. It stirs up sludge that might be at the bottom of the reserviors so you should drive away. Cool stuff YT, thanks!

Both the tanks at the station and the tank in your car have very effective filters though so it really does not matter how much it is stirred up. It will be filtered out anyway.
