the nuclear accident at three mile island was the deadliest industrial accident in history.

the company and the indian government settled on a figure of $470 million for the injured, a controversial number when compared to the $5 billion in punitive damages levied against exxon for the valdez spill in prince william sound, where there was zero loss of human life.
