Good morning from Wales

We got back yesterday, it was one of the most fascinating trips I have made.
Belgrade was the same as most capital cities but in the countryside it was about 60 yrs behind Europe.
The people, not only my wife's family were so hospitable and kind I was overwhelmed.
The food is very simple, the major component is meat lots of meat! the bread is the best I have eaten, they make a fantastic cornbread biscuit that with kajmak(a type of clotted cream) and wild strawberry jam was fab, they had never had this combination but wanted to eat a typical British high tea.
These are a few pics of a floating restaurant on the Danube, it is one of the best in Belgrade. The 3 course diner for 7 cost about $130 inc wine beer.

It looks like you had a great time! Glad you got home safe, just in time for everyone to head out for a holiday! Between Canada Day today and the 4th for us Yanks on Monday...Everyone is out on a picnic.

Get some rest and do a bit of laundry...by then everyone will be back!

Thank you all for the welcome, laundry, the machine has been throbbing since 6am, we should get the suitcase that Swiss Air lost today(Swiss Air are the most incompetent airline we have ever flown with) and they tried to get me arrested in Zurich for complaining about the fact that 60 pax were left standing in a queue for 1hrs after we had missed our connections with no aircon. The cops could not arrest me as the rest of the pax including Swiss nationals, pregnant women and some very old people came to my aid and stated that all I was doing was complaining about our treatment and that the employee that I called an incompetent turd was an incompetent turd. This meant they would have had to arrest all of us.
To my evil twin Tom, Serbia has only 30% men and the women hunt in packs nothing with facial hair is safe

Welcome back! No matter how interesting or friendly a place is, I'm sure you're glad to be home... if for no other reason than to collect all of the bills stuffed into your post box!

Glad to see a place with big mugs of beer and ash trays on the table. Salt shakers are an improvement over the dish of salt with a small spoon that I've encountered.

My wife wanted to visit Tito's mausoleum, we went with the 85 yrs old Grandfather and partisan commander of our nieces partner.
He was a big hit with the two coachloads of American Socialists who were traveling around the east, we had a very good time with them and they found Zoran fascinating, he had not visited the grave for a long time so he dressed up in his partisan hat and medals and stood straight and saluted his leader it was very moving. He did not want me to photograph him as he is but showed me pics later of him when victory had been achieved.
The biggest pic of Tito in the mausoleum was him with the Welsh actor Richard Burton who was a friend of Tito's, Tito had a really cool pair of Ray Bans on.Click image for larger version
