Today I tried a new Indian restaurant that just recently opened not far from my house. The name of the place had me a little leery at first because it seemed kind of silly and cheesy. It is called Bollywood Grill and it has a movie theater theme. There is a sign outside that says something like "Now Playing...great Indian food" or something to that affect. Well I am glad I went inside anyway. I had the lunch buffet and it was quite good. The highlight for me was the goat curry. It was a little too heavy on the cilantro, but I love cilantro so that was not a problem. The decor was very nice inside. The walls are covered in pictures of Indian movies and movie stars. Most of them looks like they were from the Gone With The Wind era. The woman were beautiful so I was happy to have something to look at
On the way home I saw a sign on the other side of the road for an Indian market that I had never noticed before. I had some time left before I had to get back to work so I stopped in. What a goldmine! This place was great. They had a lot of veggies that I was unfamiliar with and tons of packaged items that I am sure I will be buying. I purchased a bottle of coriander chutney and a bottle of mint chutney. Their prices were great. They had so many types of dal (more than I ever knew existed). The bags were very large and they only charges $2 or less. The owner came up to me to ask if I was finding everything I needed so we got to talking. I asked if they had just opened because I had never noticed the store before. He said they have actually been there for 19 year, but they just put a new larger sign outside. I told him that the sign was working cause that is how I found them. We talked for a while and I told him I have been wanting to try my hand at Indian cooking for a while so I will be coming back to his store to stock up. He even offered his mothers assistance with recipe help if I ever need it. She was running the cash register and was very nice. I can't wait to go back there when I can spend some more $$$
