And just how do you celebrate Bastille day? 218 years? Is that right?

Fireworks, for sure. I think there's usually/often a big display at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Otherwise, I would imagine it's celebrated in a similar manner as the U.S. observes the Fourth of July.

In addition to fireworks, morning military parades are part of the cellebration, the biggest one is in Paris (Champs Elysees).
Dancing parties are also held on the night of the 13th, generally firefighters organize them.
Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de Glorie est arrive!

I am not French, but thanks for remembering since France is probably the culinary capital of the world and this is a cooking forum (I know people will argue about this)

I'm guessing it's not a huge holiday there in Canada?

Oh, is it that many years???? Not meaning the 218, meaningthe 18. When we lived in Hawaii, we were big into theme parties (I still am, it makes an excuse for myfriends to dig up recipes and even dress for the event). It was the Bastille Day Bicentennial. In Hawaii. THis was before the internet, so I had to do some research to make a flag (I knew the colors, just didn't know if the red was next to the flag pole, or the blue)(if i rmember right, blue? Hey,it's been a few years). Luckily, our friends all fell into the spirit of it and it was a great party.
