Those of you frightened by the those schlock Amityville Horror flicks can rest easy. They are not even remotely truthful in any way, shape, or form. Just typical Hollywood exploitation that was very disturbing to many people who personally knew the victims - myself included.

I was born & raised on Long Island & went to school with Dawn DeFeo, one of the victims. We found out about it the day that it happened when she simply didn't show up for school that morning. Turns out her older brother, who had a history of erratic behavior/mental illness, had had an argument with his father the night before & was thrown out of the house. He later returned with a gun & shot everyone in the family while they slept.

NO demons, NO ghosts, NO red-eyed pigs - NONE of the laughable drivel portrayed on the screen. Just an extremely disturbed young man. Period.
