Hey, y'all. I need help with a cleaning/washing problem. I have a heavy (almost canvas-like) jacket that has been accidentally soaked with diesel fuel. It's been through the washer, but it still reeks of the fuel. Right now it's hanging outside.

Any ideas on how to get it back to wearable shape? Thanks.

Don't laugh. When you go to wash it again pour a can of Coke in the machine with it. NOT KIDDING. Must be Coke though, not generic.

If that doesn't work my old standby for removing ANY smell is a couple cups of vinegar in the washload. Hasn't failed yet.

SO recommends full strength dish detergent.

That reminded me of the Dawn dish detergent ads featuring the oil soaked water foul being cleaned off with Dawn.
