You're so right, affable. There are those in need year round and we should all try to keep our spirit of goodwill in the upcoming year. Maybe we could have a thread to give each other ideas throughout 2008.

Yes, and I do buy an extra bag of food every couple of months. It is simply that this time of year people are spending money on gifts that in some cases are not really needed or wanted. I have to laugh; I was in town (live in a very small town) and ran into a friend who wanted to have a drink with me. We stopped, and I got a phone call there. How funny! It isn't a place I hang out; we used to when the regular bartendeder was going for her degree, my husband was tutoring her! It really was very funny. It was a bar owner down the street who wanted to give me money for my favorite charity, since I always take the holidays to buy for her favorite charities.
