Just wondering how other folks wander through this place. I generally use the Power User's portal to get on, then hit New Posts often. I do like to see what the folks who are online are doing, so I will often hit the Current Users link to see what other folks are looking at. That's led me to some interesting old threads a time or two.

Right now I noticed that most of the folks online are PMing all over the place. Its either a tempest brewing (in which case, thanks for keeping it private) or its secret santa planning! (Deal me in for THAT!)

So, what sorts of things do you do once you're on here? What features do you like the best, and what things do you either dislike or disregard?

I use the power users portal.

On my phone I go to "subscribed" first then "current" after that.

Sometimes it surprises me how little of the website I use even one that I use every day!

"current users" link? Never used that.

What's a Power Users portal Alix? Do you have to have built up thousands of posts before you get that option or is it staring me in the face all this time?

I just turn up - have a look at the "recent posts" list on the right and check out any that sound interesting.

Likes? I like hearing about new foods and ingredients, and unusual/new recipes. For instance, someone joined from the Lebanon recently and I would love to see some Lebanese recipes. I enjoy looking at pictures of what people have made too. :)

It's at the bottom of the page when you have the Main forum listing on. It tells you who is online right now, who's been on in the last 24 and has a hyperlink that is Currently Active Users. It will tell you who is doing what on the site.

I like that link because the site will show you as active for an hour after you leave. I like to know who is ACTUALLY here sometimes.

I don't use the power users feature. I remember seeing it, but couldn't even tell you how to get there anymore.
I'm a New Posts button pusher. And of course looking to see who's online and why they aren't saying anything
Every once in a while I'll hit Today's Posts because sometimes New Posts leaves a message or two behind that I haven't seen.

Well I didn't find the power users thing, but after a bit of a trawl around, I did find a very interesting thing called "latest thanks".

Update: Okay I found it. It's a tad "Big Brother" isn't it!! LOL

I use the iPad app almost exclusively. I navigate around the regular site on occasion just to keep up and get to stuff not available on the app.

I pin my DC tab using Firefox so I always enter through the last New Posts, which I keep reading until I have read them all.

Today's Funny is always a favorite, as well as Chicken Chronicles.

I don't bake, so I'm not interested in anything baking, but I do enjoy subjects like granola bars, chex type mixes.

Outdoor cooking I only enjoy the food porn, but not grilling equipment as I have no access to doing that.

Each time I come back to DC, I click on New Posts. Then I read through the entire list end to end. When done, I click on New Posts to update then Mark Forums Read and start over. I do not read every thread, just ones that might interest me.

I use my iPhone almost exclusively, I go to "current" and check everything out from there that interests me. Sometimes if I'm caught up, I peruse places I haven't been for awhile. I go to the "forums" tab on my phone when I want to look up a recipe or add one. I am unaware of the "power user portal" wah!

Power Users...read everything from today, responding as I like. This is after I catch all the notifications by e-mail...sometimes I go off on tangents.

I look at all the emails I get from DC and click the link. Then, at some point, I click links on the right in the "Recent Recipe Discussions" and "Latest Forum Topics". If I run out of stuff to read, I go to power users. Any page with posts has a few blue bars near the top. One of them has "Search". Power users is in the drop down menu of search.
