A WW2 veteran that was in his 80's. He had a bout with cancer and a brain clot that did him in. I am glad it was not long a fight, I was very worried about how his widow would handle it but I am also glad he did not suffer too long. IMHO we just lost a national treasure. I just went fishing with him this last summer. I will say fair winds and following seas to my dearly departed comrade. God bless him and his family. :(

I'm so sorry. I am really glad that you had the chance to spend time with him.

I am sorry for your loss as well. That truly was the greatest generation. My father was among them.
Sigh, Susan

I pray you and his family are filled with wonderful memories of the friend you had in him. God rest his soul, and keep his widow's in peace knowing he is smiling down on all of you!!

Thank you all for your replies, thoughts and hugs, I have already been approached by the Legion Chaplain to represent the Son's of the American Legion at the service. I will call the widow Monday by then she would be more up to talking. Thanks again.
