but I'm getting a pet.... a cat! Some of you probably love dogs, and I love both. It's too hard to have a dog in an apartment. Here is the cat I'm getting today. I'm going to name her Lucy. I'm excited because I haven't had a pet in 15 years.

Congratulations! She is very pretty. How old is she? I have two inside kitties and 4 outside kitties, plus an almost 9 year old puppy for them to play with.

thomas my five year old cat is my best bud. he listens when i talk, is sad when i am and happy when i am. of course i think he is the best kitty around. i got him when 6 weeks old. shortly after he was very sick and i almost lost em. it never occurred to me to get rid of him when he was sick.

you will think lucy is your best buddy she is a constant companion for you and asks only to be warm, fed and given water. she will love to be cuddled and petted (maybe) thomas does not like to be held. you will learn lucy"s likes and dislikes very quickly. enjoy your new friend.

Here's my buddy, Gizmo. He is 10 yrs. old. I've had him for 9 yrs. Indoor kitty only.

This is my shadow, Vixen. She follows me everywhere. Not sure on her exact age. The vet thinks about 12 or 13 yrs. I've had her for 7 yrs. Indoor kitty only.

This is Nurse Kelly. She is 4 yrs. old. Rescued around 8 wks. old.

This is Cpl. Radar "Walter" O' Rielly. He is 5 yrs. old. Rescued around 6-8 wks old.

This is Col. Sherman T. Potter. He is 5 yrs. old. Rescued at 8 wks old.

And last but not least we have Callie. She is almost 2. She wandered into our barn when she was about 8-10 wks old.

The first two I stated are indoor kitties only due to their being declawed by the previous owner.

VB, good luck and have fun with your new friend. We had our first cat (a stray) from about 7 months (like you, missing out on the very young kitty stage...not a bad thing to miss) until she died in a freak accident when she was 17. (We were gone, front door blew open, she was a strictly indoor cat, she went to play with the Husky next door.....) Four days after we got home we adopted a new kitty (a 5 year old rescue cat).

That is SO true! DH is currently providing a soft surface for our furbrain to recline on.

We had a cat named Christine who would get into every box she found. If it was too small (even 2" x 2") she would get as much of herself into the box as she could, and the rest would just hang out!

CG, LittleBit looks alot like my kitty I had when I was 13 yrs. His name was Tom Tom Kitty. I found him on the roadside when he was sooo tiny.

And yes M.A.S.H. is quite popular in our house. We had a Hot Lips Hoolihan, but we lost her when she was real young. So Nurse Kelly was the only other female character we could think of.
