I'm not very good at adding pictures

I went into my CP to add a profile picture. I choose the link to choose from my own files. I went into my pictures & found the one I wanted. When I went to upload it, it stated that file could not be uploaded. What did I do wrong?

There is a size limit for the photo file. If your selection is to big (to many pixels) you have to reduce its size to below the max.
