I always felt ripped off when I was a kid for having my birthday on the shortest day of the year.

In Florida the shortest day in the year is only about three hours shorter than the longest day, but along the northern border of the United States there is a difference of nearly eight hours.

Today, December 22, Thursday, is our shortest day.

Southwest Florida will get 10 hours, 29 minutes of daylight today.
