Now...in a few more years save your money and spend another anniversary in Venice. Nothing short of awesome!!!!

We are planning Wa DC and NYC combined, next May.

I would love to do the Rome-Florence-Venice drive after that, but spousal unit wants to do Turkey (I have been there a number of times for work, fabulous place).

Okay...having lived in Washington, DC for 30 years, I endorse your decision. Soooo much to see and do and so much good food to enjoy. Diet, NOW!

I'm not even sure how many times I have been to DC on business over the years. More than a dozen times, probably not two dozen.

Great place, can spend a week easily on the Mall. Primo destination though. Smithsonian alone makes it.

Here are some more pics:

Inside Musee D'Orey. We loved this place. Almost entirely 19th century art. Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir.....

Inside Notre Dame. This was one of the few cathedrals we could take pics in.

When I was single, I lived in an apartment near the White House and traveled diagonally across town to work. Always walked home and took in as much as I could. The Mall area now is much nicer since the Metro has become part of the transportation system. Very user-friendly and goes everywhere.

When we moved to the nearby 'burbs, Buck and often took the Metro in early on a Saturday and stayed all day playing tourist. We never got enough of everything.
