Make up a food related poem. It can be a limerick, or something more free-verse, or whatever you like. It can be humorous, or try to convey the experience of food, or even food as art. Keep the poems relatively short though.

Hmmm, let's see if I can make one up...

The Cucumber Thief

I have a backyard garden
Not a great, large garden
Just a little hobby plot
To give me food, first rate

And in this backyard garden
this little hobby garden
with rows of fresh grown produce
I tend the humble cucumber
with garden hoe and rake

My expectations gather
about my humble garden
will my efforts yield a treasure
of green, sweet tender cucumber
from the vines, yes I will take

And so the time of harvest
it comes along in summer
And I walk the rows and wonder
are they ready, my cucumbers
but no, another few days to wait

The days pass oh so slowly
as I tend and water the garden
and then I peer with anxious eyes
beneath the great green leaves
my first cucumbers are looking great

The vines display their blossoms
the bees are in my garden
it looks like there will be a glorious
harvest of the cukes
and then the heat sets in
my poor cucumbers start to bake

The once proud garden thirsts
for water that once was given
freely from the boisterous clouds
that roamed through the northern sky
the vine's thirst to slake

But now the leaves do wither
and turn from green to tan
and rich, moist soil becomes as dust
and my harvest dreams do wane
It seems, my cucumbers, the weather, it did take.

Just so everybody knows, I did get some nice cucumbers this year. But there have been times in the past...

Your turn.
