Mental Health day!

Okay, I'm guilty! Lou stayed an extra evening instead of heading back to Philly yesterday. Why on earth would I go to work today with my guy still at my home? Nope, work was not in the cards today!

Today was an official 'mental health' day. In keeping with working towards improving my mental health, we took an hour long bike ride in the park, did a little shopping for lunch, and lounged around a bit. A good way to spend a mental health day.

Yes, I feel guilty about my staff sludging it out alone. But, every now and then, out of the blue, you just have to have a day for yourself. It was wonderful! I highly recommend it. I believe that Americans are overworked and completely underappreciated in the work place. This was for me!

When was the last time you had your own 'mental health' day? What was your excuse? I had a headache (ahem...) that would give a bottle of aspirin a run for it's money.

It's a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeyouuuuuuuuuuuuuutifil day!

This post made me smile a lot. I don't work everyday so I get mental health days more often than most folks I think. Since I work in the mental health field I heartily endorse taking a day off just to have fun. I'm glad to hear you had such a good time.

Good for you Verablue! Everyone deserves a day to themselves here and there! I'm glad you had a good day!

Your "Mental Health Day" is a great idea. I am retired so I get all the days off I want.

I am glad that you and Lou had such a great day. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Love the idea! Now my ex-manager LIVED for his job and ANYONE that would take a day off was close to fired. But may Mental Health days live for a long time!

Great idea Vera! No sense in going to work on a beautiful day, when you can have time with Lou, bike ride, and just relax. I do hope you feel better tomorrow Be sure to cough alot

Well, I used a 'headache' as the reason for calling out. So, I'll have to hold my head a lot.

At my school we actually sometimes admit to the boss we are having a Mental Health day, the only problem with them for me is that I live in the area where my school is and my daughter goes there so I have to maintain a pretty low profile all day! There's nothing worse than bumping into a parent from your class while you're out shopping not teaching their kid!!
