Since I have a sister-in-law who has just a bit too much free time on her hands and is not particularly discerning, I've become accustomed to checking out her forwarded e-mails (about a dozen a day). I've found most of them to be, as fryboy said, b.s.
Although many are fairly benign, I've seen some that, if believed, could be problematic -- they could inspire a person to act in a certain way that may be dangerous or just unnecessary, they could alter a person's political perspective, or they could give a person a false historical perspective.
They may be "interesting" to read, but should be treated as fiction if they are untrue or a purposeful hoax.
