Our First Cubs Game

I have to say right off that the Cubs lost, 2-1. But we had a great time!

For starters, when we decided to stay in the hotel we are in, we had no idea that the express bus that goes to the game stops right across the street from our hotel, so we didn't have to worry about parking! We had fantastic seats (front row, right behind and just to the left of home plate), so we were nice and close.

James said this one guy about 15 seats from us was Mark Cuban, and it could have been, but he looked a little different to me.

Before the game started, the Rev. Jesse Jackson walked behind us, put his arm around James's shoulders and said hi, then proceeded to go have his picture taken with Lou Piniella and a few other people.

I had to take a picture of James drinking his $6.75 beer (At that price, we had to make it last! LOL). We each had a hotdog and Pepsi, and I had cotton candy (a no-no for me, but I did it anyway), and a bottle of water. I can't wait to see the game (Michelemarie and her husband recorded it for us) to see if we got any TV air time. One of the ladies who worked there (showing people to their seats) said that where we were, we would be on TV a lot.

The only thing that would have made it more perfect is if the Cubs had won, but we had a great time nonetheless!

Barbara

Glad you had such a great time. We're going to go to a Tampa Bay Rays game on the 31st and I can't wait. It's been a long time since we've been to a ball park. It'll be fun. We are going with a travel group by motor coach so won't have to drive, etc.

Oh, Barbara, I know you had a ball! The Cubs! the only baseball team I have ever cared about! Dad said it was a "congenital disease" because they never seem to make it to the playoffs, but I always have loved to got o Cubs games. When we were kids, Dad would keep us out of school on opening day so he could take us to the game!

LOL Today they were hitting in home runs right and left! Ok, so I think they had two. They won the game before ours and the game after. The old Barbara Baseball Curse lives on!

Here are a few pictures from the game. The guy in the black suit is the Rev. Jesse Jackson (one of them is fuzzy). The reason I took a picture of James drinking beer is because, as I said, you have to make a $6.75 beer last!.
