I've never seen one spray, but I always heard they stand on their front legs in order to do so. At that point I'm not sure I would know which is considered the front or rear of the skunk

well, if you get sprayed, you were standing in font of its "front"!!!

Taking this even further off-topic (LOL), I read something interesting at a site on keeping skunks for pets. It said that if your skunk gets arthritis, you can give it part of a baby aspirin, but you can also give it a jalepeno. It said it helps the pain, and the skunk views it as a treat.
