Curriculum Vitae or Resumes Online Verses Mailing
Though I have never sent my C.V. ( with photo ) to an Employer, I know many people who have.
In Europe, there is a short listing process done via online resumes or C.V.s ...
They look at the photo, the present employment and references and if there is a job and the details of the responsibilities and the languages that you speak ... depending on the type of job you are hoping to obtain; they check the degree and level of teamwork and experience.
It cuts out alot of interviewing.
The Human Resources are overwhelmed with tons of Resumes ...
Some they consider have too much experience, and some not enough.
With 21% unemployment in Spain, it is a dreadful plight ...
In the Culinary sector it is different --- one can go to the restaurant they wish to work at, if there is an opening and apply and if real lucky, the owner is on the premises and he shall look at your CV and if he likes what he sees experience wise, he may interview right then and there ... however, one still needs a C.V. here in Spain and in Italy.
Ferrán Adriá had told me during an interview; my question was: what do you look for when you hire kitchen help ? He told me: My only question is, are u willing to work 18 hours a day on your feet and give it all you have ?
So, it is quite different in multi nationals or offices or in specialty fields.
