For me, bearing in mind Im a Kiwi, I sooooo want a good scoff of a Steak & Kidney Pie. The kind with a suet crust, and Beef Stroganoff done properly.
A Bombe Alaska, Ginger Gems that have been cooked in the irons, my mums Pikelets and Cupcakes with Passionfruit Icing. A great big Maori boil up of Puha, pork bones, kumara and watercress. Smoked eels that have dried on our clothes line ( 40 years ago...lolol) A good Shrimp cocktail with real Aurora sauce. ( I know!!!)

Oh boy.......Im off to the fridge for my leftover Thai flaovoured Mussel Fritters. Not Retro, just ****ed good.:) :) :chef:

My retro foods from mom's house that give me comfort are much less complicated than your's, Lynan.

I loved chicken fried steak with white gravy and hash browns for breakfast.

For lunch, homeade potato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

My favorite dinner was quail pie since that meant my dad had been hunting and there were tons of friends and family in the house to feast on venison, goose, pheasants etc.:) I actually feel the same way about shrimp and crab boils...lots of company and tons of laughs.
