RIP Barbara Bush

I admired Barbara Bush for her advocacy for literacy. As a voracious reader who learned to love books from my Mom, Mrs. Bush seemed like an EveryMom when encouraging reading. She passed away Tuesday evening.

Barbara Bush dead at age 92

Although I'll never know the life of a political wife and mom (nor have I ever wanted to...), I wouldn't mind going out the same way she did:

"...In fact, as of Monday night she was alert and having conversations over a bourbon, a source close to the Bush family told CBS News..."

It was a day of losses. Barbara Bush, Carl Kasell, and Harry Anderson all in one 24-hour period. It got to where I didn't want to go anywhere in my car because the radio told me of another death.

Not the least of them, Jennifer Riordan, a married mother of two, who just happened to have the wrong seat on Southwest flight 1380.

Carpe diem.
