My scanner worked just fine this morning but just now I need to scan and print and It tells me "scanner can't be found" Any ideas anyone?

Did that..It still tells me
"sorry, scanner could not be initialized"
(scanner not found)

I pushed on all the plugs behind the scanner and they are all in tight..is that what you meant?

our did that to us too dove. all we had to do was reprogram it into the computer with the disc that came with it.

I have an HP Scanjet 3970 and this is a frequent problem.

I simply reach behind the scanner, unplug the power connector, wait 15 seconds then plug it back in. It makes a little grunting noise and the lamp turns on and it works just fine for a few days until it locks up again.
This "reset's" it and clears whatever's stuck in it's craw.

P.S. This also works on Routers and Cable Modems and almost any external perepherial that locks up. :smartass:
