I don't walk under ladders.

And the only GOOD thing about my mother dying was that I don't have to
worry about stepping on a crack and breaking her back anymore, LOL!

Hi SK!!!

Nope, I'm not superstitious in any way. I had a few quirks in my younger years, like when I was a kid and take a shower. I always thought that whatever side the water was showering on was the side that God protected. Not sure how I got that idea in my head. I had others growing up, but sure can't think of any others at the moment!

You probably had heard the saying, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" and related it to that.

I once worked at our county jail as a cook and we had one inmate that would go berserk if some one would put their hat on his bed and then go through all kind of motions and rituals before he would sit down

Not that I'm concerned Dave, but do you recall the ritual? And be specific. Errrr, I'm asking for a freind of mine!!:ROFLMAO:

It is interesting how some superstitions get started though. I read that some people many years ago were unhappy that their servants were breaking so many mirrors, so they told them that it was bad luck to break mirrors. The servants apparently were superstitous and starting being more careful. I don't know if that is true, but I read it a few months ago.

And thats kind of the crux of my question-how do these things get started?? I'll bet there are some intersting stories behind them....

You could be right Barbara L! I remember flip flopping around in the shower trying to give each side equal time!!!:LOL: Imagine the water I wasted!

Smoke King - I can't ever say that I have heard of the hat thing, but when it comes to gambling, I think anything goes. We went to LV many years ago and all I remember is the bouncer guys trying to throw me out because they thought I was too young to be in the casino. THAT was fun!

I'm crazy superstitious. Can't put new shoes on the table; can't walk with someone and have an object walk between us (as in you both have to go around the same side of a pole or tree); if a broom falls and no one was near it, company's coming; never make statements like "if you're ever in an accident...." and if someone says it to you, you knock on wood. Yep, crazy superstitious and this is in addition to a strong belief in Karma which is not the same as superstitious in my house.

Superstitions and my OCD are a bit of a grey area. I only get on my motorcycles from the left side. If for some reason I have to get on from the right, I get back off and hop on from the left side.

There's a few other things I do like that. I guess I use "superstitious" as an excuse.
