THANKSGIVING SPECIAL
DID YOU KNOW...
The Pilgrims, most of whom were Separatists, are not to be confused with Puritans who established their own Massachusetts Bay Colony nearby (current day Boston) in 1628 and had very different religious beliefs.[

1. Name of the ship that carried the pilgrims to the new world ...
2. The more formal name for the "Horn of Plenty"...
3. Which President set the last Thursday in November as the official day ?
4. What name did the Pilgrims first give to their new homeland ?
(Hint; the name is still in use today.......)
5. What favorite pie ingredient comes in a "Pitmason Pineapple" variety ?
6. When is Thanksgiving celebrated in Canada ?
7. On which continent did turkeys originate ??
8. Can you name the Patuxet Native American who befriended the Pilgrims, teaching them to catch eel and grow corn and served as an interpreter for them...
TRUTH OR CRAP ??
The 1621 feast, which we call the "First Thanksgiving", paled in comparison to the one held two years later.

TRUTH !!
The Pilgrims held an even greater Thanksgiving celebration in 1623, after a switch from communal farming to privatized farming finally resulted in a larger harvest. Irregular Thanksgivings continued after favorable events and days of fasting after unfavorable ones. In the Plymouth tradition, a thanksgiving day was a church observance, rather than a feast day.
