I don't think I'd buy it. PB and J is too easy to do myself. Can't help but think it will not taste all that great. I remember getting the PB and J in the same jar (can't remember the name) and thought it tasted nasty and that's the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this. There will probably be plenty of people who would buy it though.

Was it goobers or something like that? I know it was a smuckers product

No! Good grief, a 4 pack for $12.00. I don't think so. I suppose if I were on the road to someplace and all I could find was a c-store and I was ravinous I might consider buying one can. But other than an extremem situation I just can't imagine it.

We always travel with PB and J with crackers. I make sure the bag with the snacks is first in the car....

I see no need for this product.

Blech.. some things are just not meant for a can.. lol

for example...

Now THAT looks absolutely horrid. Almost makes me want to swear off chicken all together. I haven't seen this on our store shelves and I think if I'm lucky I won't.

It turned out my Grandmother used canned chicken in her beautiful chicken and dumplings. It was great, but I couldn't watch her make it.:)

I remember thinking someone would have to be the laziest person on earth (exception made for those who do not have use of their hands and therefore cannot open jars) to buy those thaw-and-eat PB & J's they came out with a few years back. Now this. :(

If I ever forget how to smear stuff across a hotdog bun, I'll buy this product.

I have to also point out that whoever chose the target customers for the website is either a complete idiot, doesn't know what backpacking actually is, or just really likes a challenge. I imagine the conversation went something like this:

Advertising specialist 1: "In North America, who has the absolute least use for something with very little nutritional value that takes up an enormous amount of space for what's in it?"
Specialist 2: "Military and backpackers."
1: "Well the military doesn't do much online shopping. Let's go after backpackers."
2. "I love a good challenge, especially if it ends with us making zero profit."

If anything, they should be marketing this as a novelty product, not convenience. I can see the entertainment value of it, but selling it as an item to make life easier? Come on. If this product succeeds, it will make me very, very sad.

being a backpacker, i think you're right, sprout. the ad guys were smoking something when they came up with that one. pringles potato snacks are about the only good canned backpacking food, except maybe tuna or spam.
pringles works because otherwise yo'd have a bag of crushed chips after a day or two compressed in a pack.
